Step-by-Step Video Lash Lift & Tint Procedure
Below, you’ll find three detailed video demonstrations to complement your step-by-step guide. The first two videos show a full lash lift and tint demonstration, giving you a clear, start-to-finish view of the treatment in real time (30 minutes each). The third video is a sped-up lash lift and tint demo that highlights each product and demonstrates exactly how to use them (13 minutes). Watching these videos alongside the written guide will give you a complete understanding of both the technique and the tools used.
Step-by-Step Written Lash Lift & Tint Procedure
Once consultation is complete and client suitability is confirmed, follow these professional steps to perform the treatment safely and effectively:
Step 1: Cleanse the Lashes
- Begin by thoroughly cleansing the lashes using an oil-free cleanser or lash shampoo.
- Remove all traces of makeup, mascara, and natural oils.
- Pat dry gently with a cotton pad.
💡 A clean surface ensures better lift and tint results, and prevents product from sliding off the lashes.
Step 2: Shield Selection
- Choose the appropriate silicone shield or rod size based on the client’s natural lash length and desired curl.
- Some shields need to be glued on to the clients eyelid with the lash adhesive, in this case apply a thin layer of glue to the back of the shield and place and hold it carefully on the eyelid until it sticks.
- Some shields are glue less, in the this case simply place the shield carefully on the eyelid, ensuring it sits just above the lash line without pinching the skin.
💡 Proper shield placement ensures even lift and avoids lashes sticking together.
Step 3: Apply Lash Lifting Adhesive
- Apply a small amount of lash adhesive to the shield or rod, then carefully using a lash tool adhere the lashes onto the shield, aligning them straight and separated.
- Make sure all lashes are smoothly attached and pointing upward.
💡 Separating lashes individually prevents clumping and ensures a smooth, natural lift.
Step 4: Apply Lifting Solution
- Apply a thin, even layer of lifting (perm) solution directly onto the lashes using a microbrush. - for TGA products make sure to only apply them from the root to the mid of the lashes, and not the tips.
- Keep the product on the lashes only, avoid contact with the skin or eyes.
- Set the timer according to hair thickness:
- Fine lashes: 6-8 min
- Medium lashes: 8-10 min
- Coarse/resistant lashes: 10-12 min
- (always refer to your manufacturer’s recommended timings)
💡 Check lashes after 2-3 minutes to ensure they are lifting properly; adjust timing as needed to avoid over-processing.
step 5: Optional step
- Cover with cling film if recommended by your brand.
- Or apply lash covers (thin paper or silicone strips) to prevent lashes from pinging off the shield.
Step 6: Remove Lifting Solution
- Gently remove the lifting solution with a dry cotton bud or pad.
- Brush through lashes to ensure they remain separated and aligned.
Step 7: Apply Setting (Neutraliser) Solution
- Apply an even layer of neutraliser to the lashes.
- Keep it on the lashes only, and cover with cling film if recommended.
- Process for the same amount of time as the lifting solution.
💡 The neutraliser locks the lashes into their lifted shape and reinforces the curl safely.
Step 8: Tint Preparation
- Mix tint and oxidiser in an dappen dish according to manufacturer instructions and prepare a small applicator or tint brush.
💡 Always perform a patch test prior to the first tinting treatment.
Step 9: Remove Neutraliser Solution
- Gently remove the lifting solution with a dry cotton bud or pad.
- Ensure lashes are clean and dry before moving on to the next step.
Step 10: Apply Lash Tint
- Carefully apply tint from base to tip, avoiding skin contact.
- Processing time: 3-10 minutes depending on lash thickness, natural colour, and desired intensity.
💡 Watch closely to prevent over-darkening or staining the eyelid skin.
Step 11: Remove Tint
- Gently wipe off tint with a dry cotton bud.
- Once all the tint you can get off with a dry cotton bud is off, dampen a cotton bud with step 3 nourishing serum and gentle wipe over the lashes until all the lashes are unstuck from the shield.
- Brush through lashes to ensure they are separated and even.
💡 Assess colour and symmetry, and touch up if needed with a tiny amount of tint.
Step 12: Remove Shields & Cleanse Lashes
- Carefully peel off the silicone shields or rods.
- Remove any residual adhesive or product from the lash line using a gentle cleanser.
💡 Take care not to pull on lashes; this protects natural lash integrity.
Step 13: Apply Nourishing Serum / Oil
- Apply a lash conditioning serum or nourishing oil to replenish moisture.
- Brush through lashes gently with a clean spoolie to align them.
💡 Conditioning supports lash strength and helps prolong lift and tint results.
Step 14: Aftercare Advice
